Russell “Russ” Kelly passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in Calgary, AB at the age of 80 years. Russ leaves to mourn, his sister, Maureen (Bernie) their daughter, Christie and son, Kelly (Lea Ann); sister, Brenda, her daughter, Tracy, and son, Brett (Karen); brother, Brian (Sandy) and their son, Jonas (Christine) and daughter, Megan (Adam); his Calgary “family” Francois, Emma, and their young son, Edward; his longtime friend, David Gerard Sparrow; and numerous other colleagues and friends. Russell is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Grace Kelly (nee Johnston); and brother-in-law, Les.

Bachelor of Science Agriculture, University of Manitoba;

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), and a Master's degree in Psychology, both from the University of Saskatchewan.

First Russ worked in Animal Pathology Services in Regina. Then he moved further West to Alberta; Bragg Creek, Canmore/Kananaskis, and thereafter settled in Calgary.

There, he and Dr. Sally Lutmer set up a corporate business partnership "Kelly, Luttmer & Associates" providing "Employee Assistance Services" throughout Alberta & beyond.

Separate from work travel, vacations were integral to Russell. ...throughout Canada, of course Alberta, Australia, Hong Kong, Beijing.

At Russell’s request, there is no formal Funeral Service. He will be cremated at Choice Memorial Inc. in Calgary.

Russ asked in honour of his memory and in keeping with his character, please do something kind for someone in need, or someone you love. If you choose to donate, do so in Russ’s memory to a charity of your choice.
