WAYNE GRIFFIN
Wayne Griffin passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, at the age of 82.
Born in North Battleford, SK, Wayne moved to Brandon in 1967 to pursue a 31-year career with Simplot as an Instrument Mechanic.
Wayne dedicated much of his life to fastball and curling as a player, umpire, official, organizer, and volunteer. He was also a longtime member of UCT and a devoted volunteer with Monday Night Bingo.
Retirement allowed him to enjoy golfing, curling, the CFL, the Toronto Blue Jays, and, above all, cheering on his beloved grandchildren, Ty and Julia.
Wayne is survived by his daughters, Suzanne (Yorgo) Halamandaris and Allison (Kevin) Lone; grandchildren, Ty and Julia; siblings, Arlene, Doug, Ernie and their families; sister-in-law Annie Woloski; nephew and godson Jason Woloski.
Predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Gladys, Wayne will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and devotion to family, sport, and community.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at the Riverview Curling Club, 420 Maryland Ave., Brandon, on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. Donations in memory of Wayne may be made to the Ashley Neufeld Softball Complex or charity of donors’ choice.
