JORDAN MEARL JOYCE

A shadow touched our hearts with the passing of Joyce Jordan, our beloved mother, grandmother, great, and great, great grandmother. Joyce passed away on July 10, 2026, at the age of 95 in Hillcrest Personal care home.

She left peacefully with her family by her side.

Mom was born February 3, 1931, on the family farm at Laurier, Mb. to Robert and Dorothy Sharp and had 11 brothers and sisters. The family eventually moved and continued farming in Scandinavia Mb. where Mom did her chores and attended school. Mom left the farm at the age of 16 and moved to Brandon to babysit nieces and nephews. She then started working at the Brandon sewing factory and at 18 she met and married a young returning merchant navy service member, Robert Jordan.

Mom and Dad lived in Brandon, Swan River, Winnipeg, Fort St John, and retired to Gimli. Mom moved back to Brandon following Dad’s passing. They loved to travel and would often load up the family and head off to Alberta and BC for many visits and celebrations with relatives and friends. In later years Mom and Dad could be found travelling in western Canada, the southern states, Mexico, Europe, and the Baltics.

Joyce loved to have family and friends over to enjoy her fabulous chili with buns and those tasty muffins. She always put others first and would offer a big smile, a kind word, and a helping hand. One of Mom’s favorite pastimes was to walk, still doing 44 blocks at the age of 85. She loved listening to music and dancing. While providing care for our grandfather and raising her five children she also found time to work at a home cleaning business, the Eastside laundromat, and as a crisis counsellor for the Salvation Army Eventide home.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband Robert, and son in laws Ron Chambers and Adrien Plante, brothers and sisters Harvey, Malcolm, Robert, Dawn, Evelyn, Ivy, Velma, and Violet as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Left to cherish her memory are her son Robert Jr (Linda) (Tim, Vincent, Renee), son Wilfred (Myrna) (Dean, Tyler), daughter Joan Plante (Melissa, Christy), daughter Marlene Chambers (Bill, Nathan), son Rick (Christine) (Daniel, Mitchell, Lauren), Sister Shirley Hallett, Brothers Jim, Glen (Arlene) and sister-in-law Marie.

Mom was so proud of her 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and will be truly missed by all.

This wonderful lady made the world a better place.

Thank you Mom, love you.

A special thank you to the personal care home staff for the loving care she received.

A Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at Rosewood Cemetery, all may attend. Followed by a reception in the Imperial ballroom, Victoria Inn, Brandon.
