It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our father Bob Lund. Dad was born in Birtle, MB to Thomas and Maye (Duncan) Lund. Growing up Dad played hockey and his love of trucking started at a young age. He loved old cars and trucking and missed his days on the road every day after finally retiring a few years ago.
Dad married the love of his life, Tillie Elaine (Zimmerman), on July 6, 1968. They had 57 wonderful years and were blessed with two sons, Mark Paul born July 6, 1972, and Darren Robert born January 2, 1975.
Life became busy for the Lund family, between working, trucking and two boys in hockey. Dad’s love of hockey was passed onto his boys at an early age and continued to his passing. He enjoyed going to the Wheat King games and watching hockey on TV. During the last couple of years Bob’s declining health had slowed him down, but still loved to attend hockey games, join the boys for coffee and visit Tillie everyday. Retirement was hard for Dad, but he tried to make the best of it.
Bob is survived by his wife Tillie, son Mark (Christine), Tyler (Taylor), Aiden (Rae-Lynn), son Darren (Shannon) and granddaughter Taylor; sister Shellan Chaney, brother Tom Lund, mother-in-law Phyllis Zimmerman, brothers-in-law, Dave (Carole) Zimmerman and Les Zimmerman and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his father Thomas, mother Maye, brother Maurice, and father-in-law Paul Zimmerman.
Dad’s quirky character and sense of humour will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. We take comfort in knowing he is reunited with his best friend Dave Shoemaker and will keep him company until we see him again.
Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place at a later date.
The family invites any friends to join us for a Celebration of Life BBQ on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the shop located at #59118 Hunter Rd., Brandon, MB.
