HARRY LADYKA

June 1, 1944 - July 15, 2026

Peacefully on the morning of July 15, Harold (Harry) Ladyka passed away at Concordia Hospital from Congestive Heart Failure.

Harry was born to Joe and Lena Ladyka (Fediuk) in Weiden, MB. He moved to Winnipeg at the age of 15. There he met his future wife of 50 years, Anne Friesen, at the University of Manitoba where they both worked. They were married May 1964 and together they raised five children and lived in Lorette, Lynn Lake, and Thompson.

In 2005, Harry retired after 27 years from his security job at the Provincial building in Thompson and moved with his wife Anne to Miniota. He moved to Virden in 2017, three years after Anne’s passing in 2014. After a lengthy stay in Brandon hospital, he moved to Winnipeg in October 2025 which made visiting for family and friends much easier. He loved living in the same building as Mark and Miranda, who ensured he was well taken care of!

Harry was an avid hunter and gunsmith. He was an excellent cook who never needed a recipe and liked to give advice on how to make certain dishes. He could often be found at the local coffee shop, ready to discuss his latest vehicle purchase. The extent of his knowledge was endless - whether it be cars, history, or sports, he was an expert on every topic!

Harry was predeceased by his granddaughter Jestina in 1992, his wife Anne and son Leroy in 2014.

He is survived by his children, Gordon Ladyka (Helen), Wendy Nederhoed (Albert), Miranda Wajda (Mark) and Tracey Peel (Blaine); daughter-in-law Rachelle; grandchildren, Beth and Joseph Ladyka, Jared Nederhoed (Deanna), Dale Nederhoed (Ali), Emily Nederhoed, Amy Nagy (Amanda), Laura Tremblay (Nick), Troy Peel, Mackenzie and Kayla Ladyka; great-grandchildren, Asher, Bryson, Brielle, Ainsley, and Wylder.

Left to mourn are his siblings Stan, Nick (Phyllis), Helen (Ray) Hughes; predeceased by sister Olga Bage.

Harold will be missed by his extended family and all the friends he made across Manitoba.

We want to extend our gratitude to Kaira Wasylyshen PA, Dr. Wong, Dr. Li and Dr. Kim at Concordia Hospital. A special thanks to Cherry, Corrie, Amal and everyone for going above and beyond in caring for Harry.

Per Harry’s wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
