LARRY THOMAS DOHERTY

After a brief battle with cancer, Larry, aged 66, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026 at the Brandon General Hospital with family by his side.

Larry was born in the Souris Hospital on April 17, 1960. His first 13 years were spent on the farm before the family moved to town in 1973. Larry received his education at the Souris Collegiate Institute, later receiving his diploma from Assiniboine Community College, and starting his career as an Electrician.

His first job as an electrician was with Webster Electric, in Souris, followed by 33 years of service with Enbridge.

Larry began at Enbridge in 1984 as a Journeyman Electrician, and after several moves and promotions, he retired from Enbridge in 2018 as Manager Gretna Area Operations. During this 33 year span he also worked with Enbridge International on a number of projects. This allowed him to work one year in Ocensa Columbia SA, one year at Jose Terminal Venezuela, and three months in Mexico City. It was a perfect mix of work and travel.

Larry’s main passion in life was music. He began playing the guitar at a very young age and soon picked up any instrument with strings. He was a talented musician playing the guitar, banjo, mandolin, and harmonica. Two other passions of Larry’s were travelling and fishing. In a perfect world, he would spend his summers at his cabin fishing and his winters travelling the world, seeing new places, and learning their culture.

Larry will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his parents, Don and Alva Doherty, sisters, Diane Deleau (Rob) and Ramona (Ron), his three nephews, Ryan (Kristine), Sean and Dylan; and by his grand-nephews, Owen and Carsen.

A Celebration of Life was held from the Souris Legion on Saturday, July 25, 2026 with a private interment at the Souris-Glenwood Cemetery. In memory of Larry, donations may be made to the Samaritan House, 820 Pacific Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 0J1.

Larry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
