CAROLE MARGARET MCDOUGALL

Carole McDougall passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, a month after her 82 birthday. She lived with courage always meeting each challenge and emotional disappointment with resilience, finding contentment in the simple joys of life.

She was born on May 22, 1944, in Winnipeg to Marjorie Constance and John Carman Hinds. She is survived by her son, Clinton McDougall (Melanie), grand-daughter Calli, sister Nancy Hinds, brothers Trevor Hinds (Marcie) and Brendan Hinds, stepmother Anita Barlow, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Winnipeg, Ottawa, Manitoba and British Columbia. Predeceased by her mother, father, husband Gordon McDougall, sister Linda Azaransky, brother-in-law Bill Azaransky, brother-in-law Elliott Grieve, brother-in-law Don McDougall, and sister-in-law Doris Zastre.

Carole lived her life dedicated to service to others as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and professionally, as a nurse at St. Boniface Hospital in many roles. She married her high school sweetheart Gordon, and together they forged a lasting, indivisible team for fifty-five years, with Clinton arriving in 1970 and Calli in 2003 rounding out their family. She was devoted to her family and dog, Marley, named after Bob Marley! Her off-duty passions included caring for her family, baking the best cookies, gardening, love of music, adorning her home, watching the Blue Jays, and visiting with her son, granddaughter, sister Nancy, brothers, and family and close friends. She cherished her trips to B.C. to linger by the ocean and walk through the orchards and enjoyed road trips to the farm, her mother’s prairie home.

Carole tackled a lifetime of health issues with determination to get better and to carry on. Her signature razor-sharp humour, generous empathic heart and her flaming red hair will be deeply missed. She lives forever in our hearts.

Gratitude to her bother Trevor and his wife Marcie for their caring support, to St. Bartholomew’s Anglican church, and to her many healthcare providers. A funeral-memorial will be held on Tuesday, August 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., WPG. At her request to have lots of flowers at her service, you are invited to bring a garden bouquet or rose to honour her life.
