Don Johnston, husband, father, brother, relative and friend to many, died on August 4, 2026. Don was 75 years old, had lived a good life and went in peace to his maker. When he passed, he was surrounded by friends and family who loved him and will always miss him.
Don was born and grew up in Winnipeg. He attended Churchill High School, where virtually everyone there knew him as "Junker" - the funniest guy in the class. He made everyone laugh.
From Winnipeg he moved to Brandon to attend Brandon University. That was where he met his first wife, Bonnie, and why he never moved away. He and Bonnie had two sons: Graham and Glen and now have two grandsons. Bonnie pre-deceased him.
In the early part of this century, he encountered an old high school friend - Karen. In 2006, he and Karen married.
Don worked for the provincial government until he retired. He has always been a part of the community, whether it be attending St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, or being one of the weekly coffee guys. When a local charity needed some help, Don was glad to step in and help.
His funeral will take place on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at. St. Matthew's Cathedral, Brandon, Manitoba. All are welcome.
