TRAVIS LLOYD CHASTKO
The passing of Travis Lloyd Chastko, age 50 years, leaves an emptiness that words cannot fully express. With family by his side, Travis passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre.
Travis was born on April 5, 1976, to proud parents Lloyd and Margaret Chastko. During his childhood in Strathclair, he enjoyed life on the farm, figure skating, tap, jazz, and Ukrainian dancing, cross-country skiing, and performing in local musicals, where his love of theatre began. He shared many of these experiences with his sister, Shelly, and treasured time with family and friends.
Two characteristics that carried Travis through life were his strong desire to learn and his fierce independence.
A dedicated student, Travis excelled in every subject at Strathclair School before earning a Business Administration degree from Brandon University. While at university, he loved being a part of the Brandon University Students Union where he made friends for life. He was proud to organize Shine-A-Rama, which inspired a lifelong commitment to volunteering and giving back to the Brandon community. There are too many organizations to list that were close to his heart but one source of pride was his time he served on the Child and Family Services of Western Manitoba Board of Directors for over 10 years.
Driven by an incredibly strong work ethic, Travis earned his CGA designation while building his career at Smooth Freight, Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba and then Christies Office Plus. Travis was so grateful for people who mentored him along the way as he wanted to continually learn and grow. He purchased both his first home and his first business, The Learning Company, before turning 30.
The vision of Christies Office Plus being a community focused business aligned with Travis’s values and he was thrilled to purchase the business in the fall of 2017. Over the years Christies Office Plus expanded and had four locations across two provinces. He enjoyed travelling as part of his work and was incredibly busy, but he always made time for his annual trip to Victoria, BC with his Mom.
Travis was extremely humble and would never share his accomplishments. He was much quicker to highlight the achievements of those he worked with and people he loved. The only time Travis shared an accomplishment was when he was named the 2025 Brandon Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year. It meant so much to him to be recognized by his peers and that he got to celebrate his award with his staff.
Travis was an amazing son, brother, uncle and friend. He leaves behind his mother, Margaret; his sister, Shelly (Dale) Nichols; his niece and nephew, Josie and Tyson (Kayla); his great-niece, Tahlia; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Lloyd, in 2003, as well as his grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
Travis will be remembered for his strong work ethic, leadership, kind heart, generous spirit and his love of the Brandon community. His most memorable attribute was his loud and beautiful laugh!
The Celebration of Travis’s Life will be held at the Keystone Centre - UCT Pavilion (use Entrance B), 1175 – 18th Street, Brandon on Thursday, September 10th at 11:00 a.m. A private interment will take place at the Brandon Cemetery.
