AMANDA NOBISS

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Amanda Nobiss on July 17, 2026.

Amanda is survived by her parents, Glenn and Sherri, her brother Matthew, sister Courtney, brother-in-law Thomas, her much adored nieces, Emily, Cait and Margaret, and her loyal companion and hiking partner, Abbey. In addition, she will be missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, colleagues, and all of the many children in her life. She was predeceased by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Amanda found wonder, wisdom and comfort in nature. Long hikes along mountain trails, through prairie fields, and the forests and lake shores of Manitoba and Lake of the Woods offered her peace and balance. Her rescue dog Abbey, was her ever present companion and partner on her journeys. Amanda also loved to share her passion and wisdom of the natural world with friends and family. It brought her great delight to reveal her favourite and usually quite remote blueberry patch or, while on a winter hike, to point out tiny mouse prints in the snow.

As an early years schoolteacher, Amanda devoted herself to helping children learn, grow and believe in themselves. She taught with heart and with the firm belief that every child deserves encouragement, dignity, the chance to shine and that every child matters.

Amanda cared deeply about all life. Her compassion extended to creatures in need of kindness, safety and medical care. It was this compassion that led her to animal rescue. She volunteered her time and worked tirelessly to improve the life, safety, and circumstance of every animal that needed a second chance.

Though her life was far too short, those who knew Amanda will remember her for her laughter, her compassion, and the easy way she made others feel welcome and valued. They will remember the teacher who cared deeply, the family member who loved fiercely, the friend who could make a simple conversation feel like a gift, and they will remember the beautiful soul whose life was dedicated to supporting and advocating for the vulnerable in our communities.

We are forever grateful for the love and support that we have received over these past weeks. Every word of kindness and act of generosity has lessened the load of this difficult journey and reflects the beautiful, generous and kind spirit that was Amanda.

To those who wish, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "K9 Advocacy Manitoba", or "Partners in Prevention - Amanda's Legacy Spay & Neuter Clinics", or to a local animal rescue of choice.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. For those who wish to view the service online please contact Chapel Lawn Funeral Home.
