Phyllis Zimmerman passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Phyllis was born on December 30, 1930, and lived a very full life.
She married Paul Zimmerman when she was very young and they had over 60 years together, living in Birtle and Brandon.
Phyllis had many talents. She was an accomplished artist and lined the walls of her co-op with her beautiful paintings. All of the family members have paintings to remember her.
Her greatest joy and accomplishment was graduating as an R.N at the age of 42. That fulfilled a lifelong dream.
She nursed in Neepawa and Brandon general for many years.
After Paul passed away in 2013 Phyllis moved to co-op housing as an original tenant. She made many good friends there and had a good social life with that community.
Phyllis was just shy of her 96th birthday and had a pretty full life.
Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her children; Tillie (Bob) Lund, Bob predeceased Phyllis in 2026. Dave (Carolyn), and Les (Donna); Grandchildren: Mark (Christine), Darren (Shannon), Brad and Rob McMorris, Leigha (Mark), Devon, Taylor, Tyler, Aiden, Kaleigh, and Deklan.
A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Brandon Cemetery Veterans Section. Immediately following the graveside service lunch will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 – 18th Street North, Brandon, Manitoba.
