It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jolene Lizbeth Patterson on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, in 1955, Jolene spent her early years in several Alberta communities before settling in Brandon with her family in 1963. Brandon remained her home for the rest of her life, where she built lasting friendships, raised her family, and touched countless lives with her kindness, compassion, and generous spirit. Always willing to offer a helping hand, a listening ear, or words of encouragement, Jolene made everyone around her feel valued and loved.

Jolene will be deeply missed by her husband and best friend of 47 years, Dave Patterson. Their love story began in 1974 when they met playing tennis at Clear Lake, and they were married in 1978, building a life centered on family, friendship, and countless adventures together. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Alisa Hobbs (Nick), and her son, Scott Patterson (Beth). She was also a proud and loving grandmother to Jack and Henry, who brought immense joy to her life. Her children, grandchildren, and granddogs were among her greatest treasures.

She is also survived by her brothers, Terry Botterill and David Botterill, their families, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Gordon Botterill, and her parents, Jocelyn Clare Botterill and Lewis Ray Botterill.

Jolene graduated as an X-ray Technologist in 1975 and began her career at Brandon General Hospital. She later worked with Caring Companions, where she continued to help others.

A special place in Jolene's heart was Riding Mountain National Park. Her connection to Clear Lake began with childhood summers spent camping there before her family established the cabin site in 1974. Over the years, it became a gathering place for generations and the setting for many treasured memories. The Old Campground community became an extension of her family, and countless memories were made through celebrations, beach days, time in the cookshack, and cherished traditions.

Jolene enjoyed an active and fulfilling life. She loved golf, pickleball, yoga, photography, travel, and spending time at the YMCA. She had a remarkable eye for photography and captured beautiful images throughout her travels, preserving many treasured memories. Alongside Dave and dear friends, she explored many destinations, including the United Kingdom, Europe, Hawaii, the United States, and their beloved Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Despite facing health challenges in recent years, Jolene met them with quiet strength and remarkable resilience. She endured more than most people knew, yet rarely complained, choosing instead to focus on her family, friends, and the things that brought her joy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at the Victoria Inn - Imperial Ballroom, 3550 Victoria Ave. in Brandon, Manitoba from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. To honour Jolene's joyful nature, guests are encouraged to wear color if they wish, while dressing respectfully for the occasion.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jolene's memory may be made toward an AED and heated outdoor cabinet for the Old Campground community at Clear Lake, helping make life-saving equipment accessible during cabin season. For those who would prefer a donation may be made to the Brandon Humane Society, another cause that was close to her heart that is also a meaningful way to honour Jolene’s memory.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to their friends and relatives who provided support during this difficult time, and to Dr. Treloar for her compassion, care, and expertise.

Jolene's legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will remain forever in the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Her memory will be cherished always.
