CURTIS RONALD CAYER

September 14, 1972 - September 6, 2026

It is with the most sorrowful of hearts that we announce the passing of Curtis Ronald Cayer, of Calgary, AB, on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at home with his family at the age of 53 years.

Curtis will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Shannon; his treasured daughters, Mackenzie and Riley; and his loving parents, Ronald and Donna Cayer, of Brandon, MB. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Cayer and Michael’s children, his nephew, Benjamin, and niece, Madeline; his sister, Suzette Cayer (Kerri); and his extended family and friends, who will miss him dearly.

Curtis and Shannon’s journey through life began at an early age. They shared years together and recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Their enduring love only grew stronger with each passing day, and Curtis cherished the life they shared as one of his greatest blessings.

Curtis’ pride and joy were his two daughters, Mackenzie and Riley. He was committed to supporting them in all their endeavours and encouraging their growth and progress in their sports. Watching them grow and witnessing their happiness filled his heart.

Having many diverse interests was a result of his incessant hunger for knowledge - and he loved to share that knowledge! He had immense creative talent and a keen eye for design, as well as a deep love for the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, gardening, and watching mixed martial arts.

Curtis will be remembered for his generous heart, loyalty, and sense of humour. He was known for his willingness to help family, friends, and even strangers; and touched every person with whom he crossed paths. Curtis’ legacy will live on through his family.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Curtis Cayer’s service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted and be available for 30 days.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Cure HHT, www.curehht.org.

Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Curtis’ family here.

In living memory of Curtis Cayer, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes. Additional memorial trees will be planted through Canadian conservation and reforestation initiatives, as a result of memorial contributions. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I'm so sorry to see this news about Curtis. Though I hadn't seen him in many years we had contact through Social Media and I was struck by the amazing Family he had around him. My thoughts are with his people. - Posted by: Trent Bartley (School Friend) on: Sep 17, 2026

  • Oh Shannon…. I am so sorry to hear. I have not seen Curtis for a couple years now and, very oddly, was thinking about him last week. When Curtis and I would meet to watch UFC or… just hang out and talk, the conversation was often about you and your daughters. He was such a happy husband and father. I greatly admired the way he spoke to me about you and the girls. He was a father that was “smitten” with his family. You were his life. My sincere condolences.
