Nick Stawychny of Brandon passed away on September 8, 2026 at the age of 77 years.
Nick was born in Ingolstadt, Germany on March 14, 1949. His family immigrated to Canada in 1950 and settled in the North End of Brandon. He attended school at David Livingston and Brandon Collegiate Institute. Nick retired as a Supervisor of the Sewer and Water Department after 35 years with the City of Brandon. He was an avid golfer and loved woodworking.
He is survived by his brother John Stawychny; nephew Kevin (Natera) Stawychny and their children, Etta and Dylan of Waterford, ON; and nephew Darryl (Katie) Stawychny and their children, Samantha and Julia of Hamilton, ON. Nick was predeceased by his father Bohdan who was born in Jezupoly, Ukraine; mother Anna who was born in Heisching, Ukraine; brother Sam and sister, Verna.
A Graveside Service will be held at the Brandon Cemetery on Friday, October 16, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. A celebration of Nick’s life will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Banquette Hall, 560-13th Street East, at 1:00 p.m.
