It is with heavy hearts the family of Judith “Judy” Merle Montgomery of Wawanesa, MB wishes to announce her passing on October 1,2026 at the age of 84 years at the Wawanesa Personal Care Home.
Judy was the oldest daughter born to Robert and Bessie Montgomery on March 24,1942 in Brandon, MB. She grew up on the family farm in Oak Lake, MB, later attending Ryerson School and Oakwood High School. Judy married James Beard of Trossachs, SK in December 1959. They resided in Oak Lake, MB later moving to Trossachs, SK in 1967. Together they had four children. Judy moved to Wawanesa, MB in 1998 to live and care for her elderly parents.
Judy is survived by daughter Susan (Roni) Obirek of Beausejour, MB; sons, Wesley (Vera) Beard of Oakville, ON, Barry (Laurie) Beard of Moose Jaw, SK and Arron Beard of Grande Prairie, AB; seven grandchildren, Charity, Craig, Taryn, Keenon, Roy, Blair and Wyatt; seven great-grandchildren, William, Kail, Axel, Tyson, Lawson, Theodore and Benjamin, and sister Roberta (Casey) Jones of Winnipeg, MB as well a numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Judy was predeceased by special friend Marcel Decock; brother Keith Montgomery, sister Cathy Sveinson and brother-in-law Roy Sveinson.
The family wishes to thank Wawanesa Personal Care Home staff for the excellent care given to mom.
A celebration of Judy’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Wawanesa United Church with Shirley McBurney officiating. Following the service, everyone is welcome to join the family for a time of fellowship at the Wawanesa Community Hall. Interment will take place at 12:00 noon at the Methven Cemetery, all are welcome.
