Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELENA BODNARCHUK (Lukianchuk) It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dearly loved mother and grandmother, Elena Bodnarchuk, on Monday, September 6, 1999, at the age of 72. Elena was predeceased by her loving husband Dmytro in 1995; her parents, Nick and Wasylina Lukianchuk; her brothers, Dmytro and Fred and her sister Stella Krieger. Elena leaves to cherish her memory her three children and their families, son Nestor, grandchildren, Tyson, Tavis, Kirsten and Chantel; daughter Carol (Machnee), husband Gerald, grandchildren, Matthew and Michael; son Daniel, wife Shelley, grandchildren, Corey, Kyle and Kara. She is also survived by four sisters, Nellie, Anne, Kay and Mary; brother-in-law Ernie, sister-in-law Emily and their families. Elena was born in Vita, MB on December 15, 1926 and grew up on a farm on the outskirts of town. She met and later married Dmytro Bodnarchuk on October 15, 1944 and lived in Vita her entire life. Together with Dmytro she shared 50 wonderful years of marriage and raised three wonderful children. Elenas main lifes work was her family. We children never ate a bag lunch, but had to come home daily for a hot lunch. Community and church were also important to Mom and she pariticpated in many organizations. Elena will also be remembered for the many Ukrainian Easter eggs she wrote and all the beautiful cross-stitch pictures she embroidered. Mom loved the outdoors and spent many an hour working in her vegetable and flower garden. There hasnt been one person who could walk by her home and not stop and comment on the beauty of her flowers. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, September 8 at 8:00 p.m. at Loewen Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB. The funeral service will be held at the Vita Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 9. Officiating will be Rev. Myron Pozniak. The pallbearers will be her six grandsons, Tyson and Tavis Bodnarchuk, Matthew and Michael Machnee, Corey and Kyle Bodnarchuk.
