ROMAN BODZ It is with great sadness that the family of Roman Bodz announces his sudden passing on October 21, 1999 at Health Sciences Centre at the age of 59. He leaves to mourn his wife Sophie of 34 years; sons, Darren (Val), Daniel (Larissa), Dwayne (Shelley) grandchildren, Ashley, Chelsey, Keith and Tyra Bodz; mother Ann; brothers, Nestor (Theresa), Orest (Rose) sisters, Mary Popadynetz (Norman), Olga Skavinsky, Pat Denesyk (Walter) sister-in-law Irene Perun (Morris) numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his father John; in-laws, Bill and Rose Bilon, and brother-in-law Joe Skavinsky. Roman and Sophie were married on July 17, 1965 living in Winnipeg till 1974, and then moving to Stuartburn to take over the family farm. Together they created many loving memories, ice fishing, hunting, traveling and socializing with family and friends. Roman continued to commute to Winnipeg where he was employed at Versatile Manufacturing and the last 11 years at the Royal Canadian Mint. Roman lived life to the fullest. He participated in many areas within the community. He was an active member in His Parish Church, Heather Game and Fish, and Southeast Border Wildlife. He was a councilor in the R.M. of Stuartburn for 11 years. Roman was an ambitious man, along with his full time job he also started a family gardening business under Stuartburn Garden Centre. That was one of his greatest passions. For Roman it was not work it was relaxation, watching his flowers flourish into color. His greatest enjoyment were his children and grandchildren, the family barbecues, and watching his grandchildren Ukrainian Dance. He accomplished a life long dream in 1998 when he and his wife Sophie took a month holiday to China. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Prayers will be held Monday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Loewen Chapel, Steinbach. Divine Liturgy will be sung on Tuesday, October 26 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Stuartburn. Interment to follow at Parish Cemetery.
