MARYLOU GAY BRAEMER (nee MOORE) Peacefully, on Saturday, May 6, 2000 at the Grace General Hospital, after a very courageous battle with cancer, Marylou passed away at the age of 54 years. She was the beloved wife of Al of 32 years of marriage, and dear mother of son Brent and daughter Tammy. Also remaining to forever cherish Marylous memory are her mother-in-law, Anne Braemer, brother-in-law, Fred as well as numerous friends and cousins, especially Pat and Ken McDonald. She was predeceased by her father Lewis Moore of Emerson in 1967 and her mother Mary Moore in 1975. Marylou was born in Winnipeg on December 15, 1945. In her infancy, the family moved to Emerson, MB where she completed her elementary and high school education. During her school years she was very active in drama, swimming, curling and church related groups such as C.G.I.T., Young Peoples and teaching Sunday School under the able leadership of Rev. J. Carl Ridd. She graduated from the Manitoba Teachers College in 1965 and completed five successful years of teaching at Neil Campbell School in the River East Division. After her children were in school, Marylou completed a secretarial course at Red River Community College in 1981, and was soon offered employment at the Canadian Cancer Society where her responsibilities increased over the 18 years to the position of Client Focus Assistant for the past few years. It was at this position that she excelled in counselling and consoling many people afflicted with the same disease that ended her life. Always the devoted wife and mother, Marylou was a highly skilled "Family CEO", excelling in cooking, arranging home renovations, planning family vacations, managing the family budget, and tutoring the children. Her favourite times were acting as cheerleader and No. 1 fan at her familys many baseball and curling games, and the many lasting friendships she made with teammates and their families. Many junior curlers still talk about "Sweet Marylous" bacon and mushrooms buns, which she prepared til the wee hours of the mourning. Perhaps her ultimate favourite was the many family vacations where the boys forced her to watch "a few too many" major league ball games, but then took her to the Malls where she learned to "Shop til you drop". More recently she enjoyed the many weekend trips to Grand Forks with her daughter and best friend, Tammy, followed by an eagerness to get home and see her "baby", our dog Bubba. Marylous funeral service will be held on Friday, May 12 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive, with Captains Wayne and Sharleen McTaggart and Rev. J. Carl Ridd officiating. For those who wish, viewing will be held one hour prior to her service. Honorary pallbearers will be Messrs, Dwight Adams, Tom Mullan and Bill Toth. Active Pallbearers will be Messrs, Spencer Cooper, Jim Friesen, Errol Klinck, Richard McDonald, Tom Stewart and Ed Thom. We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to Drs., Sharon Mould, Jan Mulder and Pat Harris as well as the dedicated nursing staff in Palliative Care (4 West) at the Grace Hospital. A very special thanks from our family to Marj Davis, Pat McDonald and Sheila Toth and all friends, fellow Cancer Society employees and volunteers who visited or sent cards or flowers. True friends are lifes most cherished gifts. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Salvation Army, Crestview United Church or a charity of your choice. "Marylou, you will always be loved and never forgotten. An Angel on Earth has received your wings. Rest In Peace" Marylous family has entrusted her arrangements to the care of: WOJCIKS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
