ANTOINE (TONY) JOSEPH BOIVIN Antoine (Tony) Joseph Boivin, aged 78 years, resident of Kakabeka Falls and formerly of Vickers Heights passed away at Thunder Bay Regional-McKellar Site on Monday, December 25, 2000 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 13, 1922 in St. Eustache, Man., Tony grew up in Langruth, Man. He started working with the C.N.R. in Winnipeg in August, 1943 and retired as foreman welder in June of 1987 after 44 years of service. His job and his hobby were the same. Tony also loved fishing and looking for birds in the fall. He enjoyed the friendly seniors in his building and really enjoyed his daily coffee with his coffee buddies. His last year was the happiest he had since his retirement. Survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Shirley (Wells) of Selkirk, Man. whom he married in May of 1953 and who resides at their home in Kakabeka Falls; his three daughters, Denise (Glen) Ball, Debra (Brent) Hogg and Dara (Gordon) Gibson; three grandchildren, Leah Ball and Cindy and Jamie Hogg and a special son Rob Pelletier (Trish) and family all of Thunder Bay; three brothers, Oscar (Doris) of B.C., Alphonse (Wanda) of Broadview, Sask., Leo (Judy) of Brandon, Man.; three sisters, Laura of Edmonton, Alta., Mellie (Edmond) Valiant of Thunder Bay, Janet of Thunder Bay; sister-in-law Thura of Gladstone, Man.; also numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Paul in 1968; his mother Henriette (Carriere) in 1979; sisters, Olive, Irene and Jean; brother Wilfred and a brother Philip in infancy. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. in the Jenkens Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Antoine (Tony) Joseph Boivin will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Jenkens Funeral Home. Father Henryk Augustynowicz will officiate. Services are complete in the chapel with cremation to follow. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation would be appreciated.
