ARMAND (TOM) BOURBONNIERE Peacefully, with family members at his side, Armand (Tom) Bourbonniere passed away after a lengthy illness at the Misericordia Urgent Care Hospital on Sunday, February 4, 2001, at the age of 78 years. Armand was born May 7, 1922. He served with the Winnipeg Grenadiers during the Second World War. Following the Battle of Hong Kong and its fall in 1941, he was a P.O.W. until his liberation in 1945. Tom, as he was known in the trucking industry, pursued a 35 year career as a professional long-haul transport driver/trainer. Tom retired in 1986 from Dominion Tanners and soon renewed old acquaintances, becoming a member of the Hong Kong Veterans Association. Armand is survived by his devoted wife, Angele (Lacroix), his two sons and their wives, Tom (Barbara) of Winnipeg and John (Mitzi) of White Rock, B.C.; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Mark and Michelle, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Armand was predeceased by his first wife Madeline in 1986; his daughter Lynne; four sisters and three brothers. There will be a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9 in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, with interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hong Kong Veterans Association. The family would like to express their gratitude with thanks to all of the staff on C2 of the Misericordia Urgent Care Hospital for the loving medical care and comfort given our loved one.
