LOUISE BOURASSA (nee MAIER) The family announces with profound sorrow the death of Louise Bourassa (nee Maier) on Friday, March 16, 2001 at Winnipeg, Manitoba. Born April 28, 1933 in Regina, SK, Louise was predeceased by her mother Mary Maier in 1969, and father John Maier in 1974. She is survived by her husband Clyde; children, Gerald (Susan), Marc, Michelle (John) and Margot; and grandchildren, Robyn, Allison, Madelaine, and Connor; as well as all seven of her siblings. Born in Regina, raised in rural Saskatchewan, near Balgonie, Louise then graduated as a lab tech at Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina. Homes have included Regina, Saskatoon, Kelowna, and Winnipeg. Louise had an insatiable curiosity about life and a rip-roaring sense of humour. Her many talents included all kinds of handicrafts, gardening, and cooking. She was involved in church activities, was a C.W.L. member for 46 years and was also very involved with the Kelowna Hospital Auxiliary and the Associates to the Grey Nuns. She will be fondly remembered for her unflagging enthusiasm for anything she was involved in and her tremendous organizational abilities. Louise never did anything by half measures. She waged a valiant fight against cancer, yet she died with grace and dignity. Louise enjoyed the opportunity to have met a wide variety of people in her business dealings as owner of Stephanchew Church Goods, St. Anthonys Church Goods and Bourassas Books and Church Supplies. She was well-respected for her many contributions to every community she became a part of, and appreciated greatly by her customers, many of whom became friends. Louise was overwhelmed by all the cards, letters, flowers, phone calls and visits from friends and relatives in her final weeks, and was deeply moved by the outpouring of affection. She was truly grateful for having such wonderful people in her life. Louise, we will miss you dearly and remember you fondly. Funeral to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 19, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 4588 Roblin Blvd., Winnipeg, MB, with interment in Regina at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Louise and family would appreciate donations to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, 2268 Pandosy St., Kelowna, BC V1Y 1T2. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
