H. ETHEL BONE (nee LAW) Harriet Ethel Bone passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2001 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Ethel was born in Winnipeg, July 25, 1915. She grew up on Bannerman Avenue and attended Luxton and St. Johns High School. Ethel was employed by Eatons and Albion Press. Ethel married Cecil Bone in August of 1959. She was predeceased by her husband Cecil in 1980; parents, Frederick and Esther Law; brothers, Fred, Gordon, Wilson; sister Amy Smith; grandson Tommy Bone; and stepson Jim Bone. She will be sadly missed by her daughter-in-law June; sister Rita Dodds; stepson Robert (Betty-Jean) of Ottawa; grandchildren, Donna Melnyk, Joanne Bone of Saskatoon and David (Deborah) Bone, Allison and Ian Bone of Ottawa; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Karleigh Melnyk; sisters-in-law, Doris and Isabel Law; nephews and nieces. Ethel loved to bake, whether she was happy, sad or bored. She was always baking for the church or when she came to visit, she always brought cookies or cake. She also loved her years at Lac du Bonnet, working in the garden, volunteering at the Health Centre and her friends at the Horticultural Club. Ethel was a longtime member of St. Boniface Golf Club and Past President of La Sertoma Club. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Friday, August 17 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Johns Presbyterian Church, 251 Bannerman Ave., with the Rev. Ken Innes officiating. The family would like to thank the staff at CancerCare and Palliative Care at St. Boniface Hospital for the wonderful care Ethel received.
