She was truly a remarkable lady. In the face of numerous challenges, she always sought to do the right thing, always looked for the good in others, remained positive and utilised humour, appropriately, to survive. She is my favourite childhood memory - I have far too few of these, as it was sadly denied me, etc. However, the memories I do possess, I cherish. Amongst many things, she was honest, thoughtful, loving, interested and interesting, and tried to help others as best she could, in as much as she knew. Her example to me, was a very powerful one, having influenced me on numerous levels during many unnecessaries that I was forced to navigate through. It was largely her influence - the memory of how she, with great dignity, strength, longsuffering and compassion - demonstrated to me the authentic meaning of not only a grandmother's love, but also what a true woman actually is, and does. She was a gift to humanity, and those who had the great privilege of knowing her, will agree. Her influence, sacrifices, love, all had important ripple effects, positively affecting the following generations after even me. I thank God for the gift of her life. I loved, and love her. (as an aside, i also wish to share that, in her youth she was stunningly beautiful, one of God's masterpieces) Amen - Posted by: L.-L. Chaudhary (grandchild, to Sophie) on: Nov 23, 2014
