LARA L. BORGFJORD (nee MELSTED) Peacefully, on February 1, 2002 at the Betel Nursing Home, Selkirk. She was predeceased by her husband Eysteinn in 1965; her son Steini in 1980; her parents; her sisters, Margret and Alla; and her brothers, Laugi and Jon. She is survived by her daughters, Violet Kuchera (Peter), Whitby, ON, Lillian Roche (Gordon), Caroline, Winnipeg, Lenore Boyce (Tom), Selkirk; her sons, Axel (Doreen), John (Rosanne) of Winnipeg, Gisli of Vancouver and Don (Jeanette), Selkirk. She is also survived by her sister Thora Helgason, Arnes; her brother Axel Melsted, Winnipeg; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Arnes, she also lived in Hecla, Riverton, Winnipeg, and at the Betel Home in Selkirk. Lara was a dedicated mother and loved to do things for her family. She loved music, passing on her love for music to her family. Her greatest enjoyment was family get togethers. Funeral service will be held at Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6. Interment to follow at Arnes. Visitation Tuesday, February 5, 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Betel Nursing Home, Selkirk, or the Riverton Lutheran Church.
