JOHN ALLEN (JACK) BORNHOLDT The family wishes to announce the peaceful passing of their dear father and grandfather on Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at Deer Lodge Centre. Jack was predeceased by his wife Evelyn; his parents; two brothers; and one sister. He is survived by his five children, David, Norma (Brian) and their children, Ian and Neil Gwizon; Jack (Ginette) Sally (Reg) and their children, Cory, Colin, Laura and Phillip Kehler; Jim (Shelley) and their children, Serena and Jordan; and a sister Helen Rooney. Jack was born in Yellow Grass, SK on December 18, 1914, the youngest son of Adolph and Mary Bornholdt. While in Yellow Grass he met Evelyn Tullis and on December 16, 1942 they were united in marriage. Shortly after getting married both joined the armed forces with Jack serving in the Army with the Corps of Engineers. During his four-year tour of duty, Jack was active in the second wave at D-Day. Following the war Jack returned to Canada and settled in Winnipeg where he began working as a bricklayer. He was proud to have been a member of the Bricklayers Union for over 50 years and that he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Elmwood Branch No. 9. Jack will be fondly remembered for his tremendous love of children, especially his grandchildren. He also received a great deal of comfort and joy from music, particularly jazz and big band. The family would like to thank the staff of T4 at the Deer Lodge Centre where Jack resided for the last six years. Your compassionate care did not go unnoticed. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. In Jacks memory, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, Suite 105 - 386 Broadway, Winnipeg MB R3C 3R6.
