My condolences to family and friends. Uncle Joe was always a gentle soul and stands out in my mind as being a caring person. When my mother died, it was uncle Joe who came to sit with my father, his brother, Peter. When his wife Olga died, I called Uncle Joe and spoke with him about his coming to Canada. He said he came at age 15. When he off the boat, there were trees everywhere. He told me about the Russians invading Ukraine. The story goes that Baba came over in 1905 on a ticket from her brother who was in Canada. She, as well, was escaping famine and poverty. Although we didn't see Uncle Joe as much as other uncles, I shall remember his gentle nature and kind spirit. Lynda - Posted by: lynda boyd (niece) on: Jan 20, 2021
