CATHERINE DIANE WOODHOUSE (nee McLENNAN) Peacefully and with loved ones at her side, Cathy was finally granted eternal peace on Tuesday, July 16, 2002. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband and soulmate for life, Rick; her sister and best friend Marilyn; brother-in-law Glen; and precious nieces, Natalie and Meredith, with whom she shared a boundless love. A special place for Cathy is also held in the hearts of her brother-in-law Terry, mother-in-law Ann Woodhouse and her many friends. To Cathy, her family meant EVERYTHING. Cathy was predeceased by her parents, Alberta and Duncan McLennan; as well as her special "furry" niece Tiki. Born in Winnipeg on September 9, 1953, Cathy spent her entire life here. She received her formal education at Norberry, St. George, Harrow and Grant Park High schools and the University of Manitoba. In the higher school of life however, Cathy had already started with an advanced degree. She derived such joy from life and had a knack for intuitively finding the common ground with new acquaintances that enabled her to make friends so easily. More accurately, she not so much made friends as touched peoples lives. Cathys professional life was rich and varied and included owning and operating McLennan Management and later working with Shelter Canadian Properties Limited. At Shelter, not only was Cathy social convener extraordinaire, but also was renowned for Friday baking days and the annual "Breakfast with Mrs. Claus". She did manage to squeeze in some time to double as the Coordinator of Policies and Procedures and treasured the many special friendships she made there. Friends will surely remember one of Cathys pet phrases, "to make a long story short" usually uttered when the story was already much longer than it had to be. Her love of language also included the written word. She would hurl herself with energy and joy into each request for a poem commemorating a special birthday, anniversary or retirement. Without fail, the recipients would be absolutely delighted with the end result. In the sunset of Cathys life, she was blessed with two great joys. She was able to make the trip to Disneyworld, a special gift to Natalie and Meredith in August 2000. In the fall of 2000, Cathy found a second family in the welcoming arms of Sharon Wilson and the congregation at Windsor Park United Church. Although much too short, Cathys time at WPUC provided an inner peace and spiritual fulfilment that completed the last piece of her lifes puzzle. The family would like to thank the many gifted professionals who cared for Cathy in such a compassionate manner. Our gratitude goes out to Drs. Andrew Maksymiuk, Sarah Kredentser and Murray Schachter in Winnipeg, Dr. Steven Alberts and Michelle Holland in Rochester, Denise Campbell, Tang, all the nurses at CancerCare St. Boniface, and many others. To Michelle at 7A South St. Boniface Hospital, we will never forget you! Honorary pallbearers will be Sharon Boonov, Cindy Deniset, Bill Forbes, Murray Kilfoyle, Suzanne Longley, Alec Lum, Linda Randall, Grant Skinner, Glen Spryszak, Randy Strachan, Connie Whitlock, Garth Whitlock and Barry Wood. The incredible void that is left with Cathys passing will only gradually be filled with beautiful memories and an everlasting love. Goodbye sweetheart, we will miss you and love you always! A memorial service celebrating Cathys life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 19, at Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Dr. After the service, a gathering of family and friends will be held at the church, with interment to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cathys memory to CancerCare Manitoba. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
