BRIAN ALLAN BOIVIN Sadly after a short but hard fought battle Brian, husband to Cathy, and his two sons, Kerry (partner Jolene), and Jeff at his side. At the Seven Oaks General Hospital left this world peacefully to a greater place on the morning of August 3, 2002. Son of Roy; brother to Cheryl (Roger), Richard (Cathy), Donald; and grandfather to Sidney and Mikaela; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by mother Frances and sister Doreen Frances "Bunny", Brian will be missed by so many more. Born May 25, 1948 in Broadview, SK Brian grew up in the station house in Antler SK until 1958 when his family moved to Winnipeg. Brian was educated at The Churchill High school until 1964 when he joined the naval reserves H.M.C.S Chippawa where he served for four years. Brian was a true railroader being of the third generation to work in the industry. He worked for The Canadian National Railways for over 30 years. He retired early in 2000. He was also a dedicated member of the Norwood Legion Branch No. 043 Brian, Dad, Pops, Slim, Spike, and Big Guy are some of the names he was known by in his circle of friends. He played father to more than his immediate family as he was loved by many of his childrens friends he referred to them often as the other kids and some of them thought of him as a second father. Many of us referred to his ways of parenting to be very much similar to that of Red Forman a sitcom father on That 70s Show and the comparison was backed by his still in the 70s wardrobe that we could never get him out of. He may have come across as a hard ass but we all knew that if was giving you a hard time it was always in good humour and that is how he showed that he cared. The world is now short another good man. Those who knew him will never forget him. And those who did not meet him will never know what they have missed. Father is a word on the lips and hearts of all children. And now not here the lips will still speak of him and the hearts will never stop loving who he was and what he means to us. The family would like to thank the staff at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, and the ICU staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital for their support and care during the trying times. At Brians request cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 7 in the P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Seven Oaks ICU, 2300 McPhillips St. R2V 3M3. P. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 156 Marion Street 949-4864
