Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHOWARD CLIFFORD BOSWELL (1912 - 2002) Suddenly but peacefully, in the early morning hours of August 18, 2002, Howard, beloved husband for sixty years of Marjorie, passed away at Grace Hospital. He was the dearly loved father of Adaire Gibb (Nick) of Irvine, AB, and Kerry (Christina) of Winnipeg. He also will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Brendan Gibb of Kelowna, Heather Gibb of Montreal, Kaitlin Boswell and Meagan Boswell, both of Winnipeg. Howard was born May 6, 1912 to John and Violet Elizabeth Boswell of Winnipeg. His father died in 1955. He was predeceased by his elder brother, James, and by a brother in infancy. Howards mother died in 1980. His sister, Mildred Dean of Winnipeg survives him. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, and by their children. Howard grew up in St. James, and graduated from Daniel McIntyre High School in 1928. He served in the Militia as Paymaster or Pay Officer, in Manitoba and many other locations in the Prairie Provinces until his retirement in 1957. In civilian life, Howard worked for Aetna Roofing as an accountant from 1961 until he officially retired in 1984. He was a devoted member of St. Aidans Church for many years. He served on the Vestry and as Treasurer. Howard was well known in the Church as The Stamp Man, for his work sorting and re-distributing postage stamps collected by parishioners. Fraternally, he had a long association with the Scottish Rite, the Masonic Lodge, and the Order of the Eastern Star (along with wife, Marjorie). He was Past Master of Lord Selkirk Lodge Number 137, and Past Patron of Fort Garry Chapter Number 17, O.E.S. As the pressures of his working life eased, Howard was able to find more time for his hobbies. He loved to listen to music, and played the piano and organ as often as his fingers allowed! He would putter around at the family cottage at Matlock, and he enjoyed picking Saskatoons in the summer time. Practically until the day he passed away, he continued to pursue his passions for painting and for stamp collecting. His paintings of prairie wildflowers and grain elevators adorn the walls and homes of many family friends. Interment will be at St. Johns Anglican Cathedral Cemetery, 64 St. Cross St., on Thursday, August 22 at 10:00 a.m. A Memorial Service will take place at St. Aidans Anglican Church, 274 Campbell St., on August 22 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception in the Church Hall. Many thanks go to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Emergency Ward, and of the Fifth Floor, for their care, consideration, and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations in Howards name may be made to the Grace General Hospital Foundation Hospice Fund, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R3J 3M7. Partings and Greetings When on the eyes of dearest friends, The marble touch of death descends, We see them in their last repose; But when to us their eyelids close, They open somewhere to the light, The glory out beyond the night. They wake where lifes dark journey Ends, to other joys and other friends, Who stand before their opening eyes, While we are saying our goodbyes. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
