FRED PRIOR On the evening of August 19, 2002, Frederick James Prior passed away gently after a hard fought battle with cancer at the age of 63 years. He is survived and will be lovingly remembered by his wife and soul mate, Cathie. He will be sadly missed by their four children; his daughter Diana and husband Brian Holloway; his granddaughter Erica and grandson, Daryl; his son Steven and wife Bonnie; his granddaughters, Ashlyn and Dana; his son Brent and friend Diane; his granddaughters, Jennifer and Crystal; and his daughter Loreli and husband Todd Garrett and his 3 week old grandson Tristan. He is also survived by his mother Myrtle; his sisters, Barbra (Dave), and Pat; his brothers, Donald (Pam), Bruce, and Robert. He was predeceased by his father Bartley; and sisters, Joyce and Bernice. Fred enjoyed a lifetime career at Cummins Mid-Canada and retired June, 2001. He started working for Cummins at the parts counter as a teen in Ontario and through hard work and commitment, rose to Comptroller and Vice-President in Winnipeg. Fred loved to be active and believed in living life to the fullest. Many memorable stunts were performed by Fred at the cottage at Otter Falls, whether "tubing", fishing or SeaDoing, he has left behind a story or occurrence that will make his family laugh through their tears as they truly appreciate his zest for life. Fred and Cathie enjoyed many winter vacations, his favourite destination was Maui, where he spent countless hours walking the shore, relaxing in the peace and tranquility of the island. The family would like to thank Dr. J. Mayba, Dr. J. Lezack and staff of Seven Oaks Oncology, Dr. Toofani and the staff of Seven Oaks General Hospital for their care and compassion. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 23 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be his colleagues from Cummins, Pete DeHebreard, Ian Coopland, Doug Kirkhope, Paul Rainonen, Dave Riches and Earl Short. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Childrens Wish Foundation of Canada, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2. Fred, Dad, "Poppa", grandpa, we will miss you terribly, you were a wonderful person and you have left a great void in our lives.
