R. MORRICE BRAND It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of R. Morrice Brand on February 20, 2003 at Grace Hospital Palliative Care Unit. He was predeceased by his father Bruce and mother Margaret. Morrice will be greatly missed by his wife Dorothy, the love of his life for 42 years; his sons, Ken and Colin (Denise) his brother Frank (Bernice) of Calgary; sister Jane (Jack) Waugh of London, ON and nieces and nephews in Winnipeg, London, Calgary and Vancouver. Morrice or Moe as he was known to his family, friends and workmates was born in Winnipeg in 1935 and lived all of his childhood on Strathcona Street. He attended Isaac Brock and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. After graduation Moe began his career at Manitoba Hydro, working in Computer Operations. He retired in 1992 with 40 years of service. His lifelong love of sports began with hockey and lacrosse at Isaac Brock Community Club and continued with baseball and hockey as player/manager in the Industrial and Commercial leagues at Hydro. He was always an avid supporter of the Jets, Bombers and Goldeyes. Moe was a wonderful and loving father, participating in his childrens activities during their school years and after. The family also enjoyed many wonderful summers at Spruce Sands and family vacations. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends, especially the church community at Crestview United. Faith guided Morrices journey through life. His deeply held beliefs and strong principles were expressed in everything he did with everyone he met. The family wishes to thank family and friends who helped during this difficult time and the doctors, nurses and support staff at Grace Hospital. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Crestview United Church, 316 Hamilton Ave. with the Reverend Beth Rutherford officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Private interment to follow. If so desired, donations may be made in Morrices memory to the Crestrview United Church Memorial Fund, 316 Hamilton Ave., Winnipeg, R2Y 2H5.
