DONALD PARKER After a brief illness, Don passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital on March 11, 2003 in his 86th year. He is survived by his loving wife Bernice (Olmstead) and his daughter Debra Parker (Joseph Sheil). Also left to cherish his memory are his two beloved grandchildren, Parker Gillian and Eamon Donovan Sheil; his sister-in-law Joan Olmstead; and five nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter Heather, brother Douglas, sister-in-law Betty, and brother-in-law Allan Olmstead. Don spent his entire life in the Sanford area, where the Parkers originally settled in 1872. He left only to serve in the Air Force during the Second World War and was stationed in England. After the war, Don and Doug farmed together and joined their father as partners in an International Harvester Dealership, which later became Parker Brothers. Don was a long-time member of Southwood Golf and Country Club where he enjoyed many neck and neck battles with his daughter, and even won a few. He loved music and played sax, piano, and clarinet. He was a true nature lover and was notorious for spoiling the family pets while relentlessly controlling the local squirrel population. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 11:00 a.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to the charity of their choice. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211

I looked forward to Mr. Parker's cheery greeting each morning as he stopped the school bus at the end of my driveway. He really cared about the kids riding his bus, and took pride in assembling annual photo albums of the students who rode his bus. When I first moved to Oak Bluff, Mr. Parker came to visit my brother and I, with the bus! He was so considerate and I am so grateful for the years he drove the bus. He made an impact on my life and I wish you my sincere sympathy. - Posted by: Wendy Preteau (Fisher) (bus driver) on: Apr 26, 2017
