SHIA MOSER Peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, March 12, 2003, Dr. Shia Moser passed away in Vancouver, BC. Shia was born on October 12, 1906 on Simchat Torah, and he was like the Torah, a true gift and inspiration to many. A Tzadeek who was kind, gentle, humble, and gave selflessly of himself, Shia lived his life in pursuit of knowledge, kindness, and the protection of those who were less fortunate and more vulnerable than he. Shia began his teaching career by caring for and teaching orphaned children in Warsaw who survived the Holocaust, and he continued on in his life as a teacher at the I.L. Peretz School and later as a Professor of Philosophy at Buffalo State University. Shia lived 95 years of his life independently, caring for family and friends across the world. Shias kind and gentle heart was evident immediately upon meeting him, and he will be sadly missed by all those who were privileged to meet him. Shia was a strong advocate for animal rights, and he lived his life as a strict vegetarian. Those wishing to make donations in his honour may do so to the Sharon Home, the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of their choice. Funeral services will be held at the Chesed Shel Emes, 1023 Main St., at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 14, 2003.
