ANNE (ANNIE) BOYKO With deep sadness but also gratitude for the life she lived, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, dearest grandmother at her home on Friday, March 28, 2003 at the age of 85. A loving and gentle soul, Anne leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Evelyn (George) and grandsons, Steven (Donna) and Michael. She was predeceased by her two precious daughters, Phyllis (1989), Irene (1999) and her husband Michael (2001). Mom grew up in the East Kildonan area. In the late 1930s she met and married Michael Boyko. Together, they raised three daughters and spent 61 years devoted to each other. She was also instrumental in helping to raise her grandson Michael, providing him with a second home during his school days. Moms family was her life, putting our needs always before her own. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting and reading. Later in life she entered the work force, working at Sunset Lodge and Golden West Centennial Lodge as a nurses aide. After retirement, Mom and Dad would frequently visit parks to be close to nature. She enjoyed the simple life, where family, home and kindness were paramount. The beauty of her goodness will live on in our hearts forever. Mom was a determined, independent and positive woman with a bright mind and a keen wit. Against all odds, she managed to remain in her own home as she so strongly desired until her passing. This was made possible through the wonderful help she received from the many home care nurses and attendants who cared for her with love, gentleness and dignity. Moms kind and loving nature in turn endeared her to her care givers who became her extended family and brought the world in to her. We would like to thank the numerous people involved in her care over the years. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. K. Van Ameyde, Linda Mallord, Debra Chochinov, nurses Karen and Mary, and home care attendants, Velma, Gelila, Anita, Abella, Marion, Helen and Margaret. Mom shared a special relationship with Carol Crawford, also with home care. A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 7:00 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 264 Donwood Dr with Fr. Raymond Beaudry officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends desire, donations would be appreciated in Moms memory to The Canadian Diabetes Association, 101 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6. We love you. We miss you. Rest in Peace, Dearest Mom.
