WILLIAM (BILLY) DMITRUK
Date of Passing: Jul 18, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILLY) DMITRUK After a courageous fight, it is with deep sadness and regret we announce the passing of our dear Billy on Friday, July 18, 2003. He was surrounded by his loving mother and family members until the very end. Billy was predeceased by his loving wife and best friend Helen; his father Andrew; his grandparents, William and Winnie Copyshanski; and his sister-in-law Linda. He is survived by his loving mother Nellie (Anastasia), his three sisters, Marian (Tony) Berard, Annie (Geza) Wallentiny, and June (Don) Warner, and his three brothers, Don, Andy (Cora), George (Susanne), and many nephews and nieces. Billy was born in Winnipeg and it remained his home for the rest of his life. He worked for the Canadian National Railway and the City of Winnipeg. As a young man Billy suffered a tragic accident which changed the course of his life. While in rehabilitation he met and married the love of his life Helen, and from then on the two were inseparable. In their younger years, while their health would allow, they both enjoyed travelling around the city visiting their relatives and friends. In their later years together Billy devoted his life to being Helens loving caregiver and companion until her failing health took her away from him on July 23, 1987. Although Bill struggled with health problems most of his adult life, they never dulled his sense of humour or his love of life. He was always known as the joker of the family. As a member of the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities he enjoyed many outings at sporting events, especially the Bombers. Billy also enjoyed bingo and other games of chance. Billy was very close to his mother and they were of great support to each other. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to those agencies and individuals who helped with Billys care, with special thanks to Claudette on the 5th floor, and the members of MICU at St. Boniface Hospital. With regard to Billys wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral services to take place on Tuesday, July 22 at 10:30 a.m. in the Garry Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. GARRY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATION CENTRE 925-1120
