JOHN BOSKO Peacefully on September 1, 2003, John passed away at the Health Sciences Centre, at age 80, from leukemia. John was born in East Selkirk on June 5, 1923, the son of the late Michael and Catherine Bosko. He worked for some time for Kennys Garage and later on for many years as a Heat and Frost Insulator for Western Asbestos in Winnipeg. After retirement he spent more time with his favourite pastimes, fishing, gardening, traveling to the east and west coasts visiting relatives, and enjoying many other outdoor activities. He had been a member of the I.O.O.F. and was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 42, Selkirk having served in the Second World War with the Medical Corps (RCAMC). Throughout his illness he displayed remarkable courage and attitude. He was a devoted husband and father, friend and neighbour, and had a wonderful sense of humour. We will miss his love and devotion. John is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Hazel (Benny) and son David; a sister, Steph Kasper in British Columbia; a brother Steve (Ruby) in Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews throughout Canada. He was predeceased by a son Brian in 1996; a brother Peter of Libau and a sister Anne Andrayko of British Columbia. The family wishes to thank Dr. Rubinger, Dr. Demsas and the Health Sciences Centre staff for their care and compassion during his illness, also the Palliative Care staff at the Selkirk General Hospital and Wes Gilbart and staff at the Gilbart Funeral Home. At his request cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, September 5 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. Interment of ashes will follow in the St. Clements Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or the Palliative Care Unit, Box 5000, Selkirk, MB R1A 2M2.
