ANTOINE COUTURIER Peacefully, on Monday, September 29, 2003, Antoine Couturier passed away at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home at the age of 73 years. Antoine was born in La Malbaie in the district of Charlevoix, QC. He was the sixth of nine children. After completing his education, he remained living with his parents and worked in his fathers business which was managing and operating a garage. He left Quebec when he was 54 to live in Vancouver as his brother Louie was there. He remained in Vancouver for one year. Antoine left Vancouver because not many could speak French, then came to Winnipeg, the city he learned to love like no other. In Winnipeg he lived with Mrs. de Laurier until the house closed and then moved to St. Norbert Lodge, living there for 8 months until its closure. Antoine moved to a group home on Spence for two years, then moving again to another group home in St. Boniface, with Claudette Gauthier the home leader, where he stayed for four years. On June 11, 1990 Antoine was admitted in St. Norbert Personal Care Home. We express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the St. Norbert Personal Care Home for their professional help and compassion shown towards "Tony" for the 13 years he was there. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Antoine Vo Van Hoa at the St. Norbert Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, October 2 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow immediately after the mass at St. Norbert Parish Cemetery.
