DR. NOEL BOOK Dr. Noel Book, devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away on October 12, 2003. He will be forever missed by his wife Shirley; his children, Brian and Audrey Book, Jeff and Debbie Book, Donna and Ron Henrie and his adored grandchildren, Marlee and Ross Book, Rachel and Michael Book and Ryan and Kara Henrie. Three simple words summed up Noels life, LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH. He lived as he would have wished we all would - respect your fellow human beings and treat others as you would want to be treated yourself. After five years in general practice in Cupar, SK he then specialized in Ophthalmology. He returned to Winnipeg in 1959 where he brought compassion and advanced surgical techniques to his patients. He delighted in giving his patients a very special gift - the gift of sight. His unequivocal love for his wife, children, grandchildren, relatives and friends was unwavering. His special gift was laughter. He introduced laughter into the lives of many with whom he worked and to all his many friends. His family is greatly indebted to Dr. A. Maksymiuk and the staff at CancerCare, and to St. Boniface Hospital Palliative care unit and all its staff. In his final days, he was cared for on A8 with great compassion and dignity in the palliative care unit. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations can be made in Noels memory to either CancerCare Manitoba, Alzheimers Society or to your charity of choice.
