EVALEEN (NEEN) NORTON KELLY (nee GRANT) 1910 - 2003 "And I held your hand waiting, And I held your hand waiting." Mom passed away peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre, November 15, 2003, with family at her side. This is her obitbulkloaduary, as written by her in preparation, with a little poetic license from her family. "Born in Boissevain, MB Neen was predeceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Grant; her husband John Kelly and her sister Marjorie Ludgate. She is survived by her two daughters, Pauline Kelly of Victoria, BC and Nancy Gates of Winnipeg; her son-in-law Rod Gates and her grandson Alan Gates of Ottawa, ON." Mom wrote in Alans Grandmother Remembers book that her deepest values were "honesty, loyalty, responsibility, morality and kindness" and she exemplified all of these values every day of her life. We, her family, only hope that we can do the same throughout our lives, thus being a living legacy to her. We would like to thank the wonderful staff and residents of Wolseley 2 who made Moms last two years both comfortable and enjoyable. "In their arms" she received the best care ever and we all felt Bluebird Bay was truly her home. We also want to thank the Riverview staff of C-1 and our new friend, Winny, for the support and compassion we all received during Moms short stay there. Mom left us with a copy of this poem: "When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little - but not too long And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared. Miss me - but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take And each must go alone. Its all a part of the Masters plan A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, Go to the friends we know And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me - but let me go." (Poet Unknown) At Moms request, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be spread in Victoria where Dads ashes rest.
