ANDERS (ANDY) HILDING RONNANDER February 24, 1905 - December 2, 2003 "Andy" was born in Bjuraker, Sweden, the youngest child of August and Anna (Andersson) Ronnander. To cherish his memory, Andy leaves his wife of 48 years, Grace; in-laws, Jim (Marg) Black, Anne (Herb) Douglas, Jean (Ken) Christie; and cousin Maj Ericcson in Sweden. Especially close were niece Marg Ronnander-Hewitt and her family of Cal Hewitt, Carolyn (Robert) Sigfusson and children, Pamela (Kelly ) Gorman; niece Bev (Don) Potter and family and niece Calla (Greg) Lofvendahl. Andy was predeceased by his parents, and siblings, Sera, Esther, Gus, Hildur and Tyra; his niece Annie Dellmore and in 1952 by his first wife Susan M. Over holt. Andy came to Canada in 1924 at age 19. He spent many years exploring and trapping in the arctic. When he returned from the Arctic to Winnipeg, he established Dellen Oak Fur Farm in Charleswood and Buffalo Packers in St. Boniface. In 1955, Andy married Grace Black. He and Grace enjoyed many holidays in Mexico and the southern USA. In later years, they divided their time between homes in Paclacios, Texas and Clearwater Bay, ON where golfing and fishing were priorities as Andy was always an avid outdoors man. Later they returned to reside in St. James. Andy loved to share his many Arctic adventures with relations and friends including many pictures and maps with the name of the Andrew River (named for him) highlighted. Andy was a lifelong member of the Charleswood Masonic Lodge and received a 50 year honourarium in 2001. The past three years, Andy had been a resident of Oakview Place. The family wishes to thank the staff for their excellent care and compassion. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Flowers gratefully declined.
