Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMNADAS RAMJI STHANKIYA October 10, 1914 - December 2, 2003 Peacefully and surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at the age of 89, Bapuji, as he was fondly known, passed away at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Born in 1914 in India, he moved to Uganda at an early age to start a family and take advantage of the promised opportunity being forged in Africa. In Jinja, Uganda, he soon gained a position with the Madhvani Group Consortium of companies. Ambitious and hard working, his perseverance and dedication allowed him to become Financial Advisor to the managing directors. Later, he returned to India to manage oversee a sugar factory operation under the Madhvani Group. In 1981, along with his wife Ambaben, immigrated to Canada to join his children who had begun to settle there following the Ugandan Asian Expulsion in 1972. Predeceased by his wife Ambaben; his grandchildren, Piyush, Rajesh and Cheetal; he will be lovingly missed by sons, Jayendra (wife Chandrika), Bihari (wife Hasu), Pankaj (wife Chanda) and daughters, Vasuben (late husband Bhimji), Pushpa (late husband Rugnath), Hansa (Rameshchandra) and Divya (husband Kishor). Also mourning his passing are his many grandchildren, Sonal, Kavita, Asha, Beena, Heema (husband Balwinder), Neal, Bhadra, Punit, Prashant (wife Rashmi), Ashish, Anand, Premal; and great-grandchildren, Jasper, Sascha and Manvir. Although his passing is sad, Bapuji lived a long and productive life in an admirable and honourable manner. Serving as the religious authority at all family functions, his wisdom-infused anecdotes, carefully adhered to superstitions. His harmonium playing and singing will be sorely missed; the void he has left in our family will never be filled. The Sthankiya and Modha families would like to express their warmest appreciation to friends and families both here and abroad for their love and support during our time of grief and sorrow.
