Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM ROBERT (BERT) SOMERVILLE It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of William Robert (Bert) Somerville on January 14, 2004, one month short of his 78th birthday. Bert is survived by his loving wife Iris of 56 years; two sons, Rick and wife Susan (Heap) of Winnipeg, Jeff and wife Angie (Chiasson) of Halifax; three grandchildren, Ainslie (Rick Lowes) of Toronto, Scott (Marcy Crandle) of Calgary and Erin of Halifax. Bert was born in Winnipeg in 1926 to William and Anna Somerville. He moved with family to Port Arthur, ON where he completed his education. Bert spent his entire 43-year working career at Eatons in Winnipeg, Vancouver and Toronto. Although having many notable career successes, his most significant was being instrumental in developing one of the first automated credit systems in Canada. Berts enjoyments were his family, work and singing. Summer cottages at Gimli and West Hawk Lake in Manitoba, Chesterman Beach on Vancouver Island and Maple Leaf Acres, ON were a source of many fond memories of family and friends. He took pleasure in his many contributions to the Silver Heights United Church and Silver Heights Community Club in Winnipeg. The family deeply thanks the doctors and nurses at Toronto General Hospital 7th Floor and Transplant Unit, and Toronto Western Hospital Intensive Care Unit, Step-Down Unit and 9th Floor Neuro Ward. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Toronto General Hospital Foundation - Transplant Unit. Family will receive friends at the Scott Funeral Home, 1273 Weston Rd., Toronto on Monday, January 19, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment Glendale Memorial Gardens. \r
