JOAN MacKINNON 1933 - 2004 Joan MacKinnon, of Camrose, AB, since 1980, died suddenly Sunday, January 18, 2004, shortly after her 71st birthday. Joan was the only daughter of Roy and Mabel Carl of Wainwright, AB. She married Hugh MacKinnon of Morningside, AB, in June 1952. Hugh worked for the Bank of Montreal and, as a result, was frequently transferred. Joan supervised 10 household moves in 28 years, from Wainwright, through Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Ontario, returning finally to Alberta in 1978. Through the years Joan was active in many organizations such as womens church groups, bridge clubs and, to her mind the most important, local libraries. She loved doing ceramics and many will have had a piece shed done given to them; however, her most important concern was always her family. Mom will be missed. Joan was predeceased by her parents; and by her brothers, Gordon, Wallace, Douglas and Leroy. She was also predeceased by her son Bruce Carl in 1983, in his 22nd year; and by her husband in 1988, just days after his 58th birthday. She is survived by her daughter Maureen Alexandra of Ottawa; and by numerous nephews and nieces throughout Alberta. At Joans request, no funeral service will be held. A celebration of her life and burial of cremated remains will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Ave., Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2, the Camrose Public Library, 4710 - 50 Avenue, Camrose, AB T4V 0R8, or to the charity of your choice. Burgar Funeral Home Camrose in care of arrangements. (780) 672-2121.
