Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM JAMES PRESTON Peacefully, without pain and after a lengthy illness, William James Preston of Tracadie, NB, left us on January 17, 2004. Born in Accrington, Lancashire, England on November 20, 1923, he was the first son of William Henry and Emma (nee Hyde). He is survived by his auntie Elsie Gardiner; his sister Jean (David) his brother Jeff (Doreen) in England; his eldest daughter Chris (Derek) in St. John, NB; his sons, Alan (Pauline) in Shropshire, England, William (Carole) in Tracadie, and Tim in Winnipeg; his grandchildren, Luke, Sam and Ad in England, John, Mark, Becky and Ian in New Brunswick and Jason, currently in Lugansk, Ukraine. He was a paratrooper and a veteran of the Second World War. He was honoured by the British Army for his efforts. He trained and was variously employed as a residential and commercial painter and decorator, a civil engineer and a bridge inspector. He was married to his loving wife Marion for 58 years, prior to her passing in July of 2003. He had a love of horses and blues music. He had recently bought a new guitar to play. He will be fondly remembered by his family, his friends in Tracadie and his family and friends across the world. He has been cremated. He wanted no funeral nor donations. His ashes will be scattered in the spring according to his wishes.
