DONALD WILLIAM BORGER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father Donald Borger on Tuesday, March 9, 2004. Donald is survived by his wife Jessica; his children, Candace (Barry), Mark (Donna), Gary (Dianne) and Barbara; his grandchildren, Alexandre and Solene; his brothers, Ralph, Gerald and Henry; and his sister Barbara Graham of Toronto. He was predeceased by his parents, Barbara and Henry and by his brothers, John and Alan. Donald was born in Winnipeg on December 19, 1925. He grew up in Winnipegs North End as the oldest in a family of seven children. As a boy, he enjoyed singing and playing the accordion. He attended Ralph Brown School and later St. Johns College, where he excelled in many sports and especially enjoyed playing baseball and hockey. As a young man his entrepreneurial spirit was divided between working in his fathers business and working on the Boardwalk at Winnipeg Beach. He joined the army in 1944 and was enlisted in the Medical Corps until 1946. After the war, he returned to the family business where he worked for many years as the Chief Superintendent of Construction, until his retirement. Dad was a person who could engage others easily in conversation. He will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humour. Sincere thanks are extended to the staff of Victoria General Hospital for making Dad as comfortable as possible. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Room 1160, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, R3E 0V9. And so at last, when our life has passed, and the river has run its course, it again goes back, oer the selfsame track, to the mountain which was its source.
