ALEXANDER (ALEX) ANTHONY BOYECHKO After a lengthy, and courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 Alex went to be with the Lord at the age of 70 years. Alex joins in eternal rest his parents, Anton and Anna; brothers, Paul, John, Max, Andrew, Jack; sisters, Mary and Alice. His memory will forever be cherished by his loving wife Maria; son Zenon (Melissa) grandchildren, Grace and little Roman; brother Vincent (Eva) and sister Effie. Alex was born in Weiden, MB in 1934. He attended school in Weiden and Rorketon. In 1952 he began his meat trade at Safeway in Dauphin. He transferred to Winnipeg in 1954 to work for an independent store, Foodland. In 1969 he began his own business on Henderson Hwy., where he worked until opening Roblin Choice Meats in 1980 in Charleswood. Alex continued in the business until recently handing the business to his son Zenon. A deep faith in religion was important to Alex. He sang Gods praises during many Masses in numerous Churches, and in particular at the Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church for over forty-five years. Alex was an avid sportsman. He excelled in baseball, and pitched many games as a youth. Recently his interests turned to golf which soon became a passion. He was a natural at golf. Alex enjoyed sports in every form and attended football, hockey games, and wrestling matches. While at Expo in 1967, Alex was smitten by the Latin American Music. Thus his zest for travel began. He travelled extensively to various countries, Hawaii was his favorite where many winters were spent. Alex devoted the last two years caring for his ailing wife Maria. He was a loving man whose kind and generous spirit has left a lasting imprint on the lives of his family, and his many friends. We wish to thank all his relatives and friends who came to visit and offered prayers. Thanks is also extended to Fr. Gnutel, and Fr. Dziadyk, for their attention, prayers, and visits. Especially we thank Dr. Pacin, and Dr. Ogaranko, and all the wonderful staff at the Victoria Hospital for their kind care and sincere compassion. Parastas (prayers) will be sung on Monday, August 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1001 Grant Ave. at Harrow St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 17 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Church, with Rev. Fr. Mark Gnutel, and Rev. Fr. Isidore Dziadyk officiating, assisted by other clergy members. Interment will follow at "Thomson in The Park" (Garry Memorial Park), 1291 McGillivray Blvd. As his wife I wish to express my thanks to Alex for the many wonderful years and the good memories we have shared. I will miss you with all my heart. A part of me is lost forever. God took you from us too soon but He must have a great plan for you above. We are thankful that you are our guardian Angel, and will continue to watch over us. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Alexs memory to the Icons of Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church.
