Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySUKHVIR SINGH BRAR It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden death of their beloved Son, Husband, Brother, Father and Friend Sukhvir Brar on Saturday, September 25, 2004 at Winnipeg. Sukhvir was born August 29, 1963, in the Village Patto Hira Singh, Moga, Punjab, India, to the Bali Singh Brar and Surjit Kaur. He graduated from Guru Nanak Dev University with B.Sc. Agriculture in 1985. After his graduation Sukhvir started his professional career in the Punjab Provincial Government. Based on his performance with in a short period of time he attained the rank of Agriculture Inspector. On December 26, 1987, he was united in marriage to Balwinder Kaur. In 1987, Sukhvir moved to Canada to join his wife Balwinder Gill and made Winnipeg and Canada his new home. Sukhvir got adjusted to the new environment and culture very fast and successfully. In 1994 Sukhvir successfully applied to join the Winnipeg Police Service and in the process became the first Sikh Indo Canadian to become a Winnipeg Police Officer. Sukhvir had impressive personality and well admired amongst his professional colleagues, general public as well as the East Indian Community. Sukhvir was a member of the Sikh Society of Manitoba. He was actively involved in various community and charitable events. Sukhvir is survived by his father Bali Singh Brar and mother Surjit Kaur Brar; his wife Balwinder Brar; his sons, Harman and Sukman; daughter Paramjit; and four sisters. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Sukhvir will be held on Sunday, October 3 at 3:00 p.m. in Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. (formerly Garry Memorial Funeral Home). Relatives, friends and colleagues are welcome at the funeral home on Sunday. After the funeral, prayer services will be held at the Sikh Society of Manitoba, 1244 Mollard 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. We would like to thank all the staff of the Winnipeg Police Service for their help and support.
