JACQUELINE (JACKIE) ANNE LAWSON (ODOWDA) Mom, Ma, Jackie, Gran, Narg - Born December 26, 1932 Jackie died peacefully on October 7, 2004 surrounded by her family, after a brief and courageous battle with lung cancer. Our mom was survived by her five loving children, spouses and grandchildren, Ken and Mary Lou and grandchildren, Christian, Megan and Katie; Rob and Deb, grandchildren, Sheri and Mark, Angie and William; Bill and Cheryl, grandchildren, Brenna, Kade and Carlee; Mike, grandchildren, Mikey and Kristi; Colleen and Jim, granddaughter Bailey; her siblings, Robert and Maggie ODowda, Gail and Barry Huggins, Mike and Leah ODowda; and all of her very special nieces and nephews; her sister-in-law Lillian Lawson, Bill and Kay Lawson, Earlyn and Alex Lawson. Jackie touched so many hearts and lived her life fully. She was foremost a wise, wonderful, compassionate, caring and thoughtful mother who taught our hearts to love. Her family was the pride of her life. Jackie raised her five children in Transcona. Throughout her life she had many accomplishments, she created and ran her own successful ceramic business in her own home while raising her children. She then received her certificate for marriage counselling and went on to create and manage the Family Life Bureau in St. Boniface. She concluded her career as a counsellor with the Youville Clinic and continued to do workshops and retreats at St. Benedicts. Jackie welcomed everyone into her home. She loved music, especially having her children and friends gather together for singing and laughter. She was a cherished member of the Crones and Fogeys club and enjoyed all of their laughter and friendships. Jackie had a special bond with each of her grandchildren. She loved "her little ones" with all of her heart. Jackies family would like to thank all of our family and friends for their love, support and prayers throughout this journey to her new life. Special thank you to all her cherished friends at St. Benedicts and to the special care givers on 5E at St. Boniface Hospital. A celebration of Jackies life through prayers, sharing and song will take place Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m., October 14, at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 425 Rosseau East, Transcona, and funeral service will also be on Friday, October 15 at 1:30 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish. A quote from Jackie, "The real meaning of life is just to learn how to love, and Jackie loved us all. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

  • I can't believe that you have been gone almost 10 years already but I know that you are with me always. I see your little signs and they make me smile. I sure wish you were here with us and could see how Conner and Taya have grown. I hope that I am as good a Grandma as you and Grandma O were. Keep smiling down on me and keep those little signs coming. I appreciate knowing you are still with me and watching over us all...say Hi to Gramma and Grampa for me...love you always and forever :) xo - Posted by: Eileen Huggins (Niece) on: Feb 06, 2014

  • Been on my mind a lot the last few days, and now I see why. Because it's been 9 long years since you left this world. Today grandma (your sister) and I were at lunch and she said whenever I see these iced drinks at restaurants I think of my sister (you). Then tonight I'm feeling so low and I pick the kids up from church group and Conner starts singing what a wonderful world. I know you are with us every day. Miss you terribly. love, me - Posted by: Gailene () on: Oct 09, 2013

  • 8 years is like the blink of an eye. I still, as does everyone you knew, find myself quoting you, missing you, always asking the kids ( what would granny say or think ?). Or just connecting. We all have a part of you in us. Colleen was blessed with your hands and I tell her that all the time. Your hands were strong yet very gentle, creative and supportive, stern yet ultra soft and able to give the best back rub (scratch) Ever. I guess it was the operator of those hands that is missed so so dearly. Please keep watching over all of us. Keep working in those mosquito's " Dragon fly". I know you're there. I see you fly around those that need your presents most. It's fall now the colours are beautiful which only means one thing. It's time for all special Dragon flys to head south to see uncle Bob and auntie Maggi Safe journey. You are missed and always loved. - Posted by: Mike lawson (Son # 4) on: Oct 05, 2012
