WILLIAM BOGDEN (BOGY) Bill was an orphan, raised in Brooklands by his grandparents. He worked at many jobs to support he and his grandparents and by the late 1940s he owned three single axle trucks. In 1951, he sold them to get married and then built his own house. Bill and Alphie were married 51 years. Bill worked for Commonwealth Construction, running the concrete plants, laying base in many roads, and in the winters worked with the buildings division. He also loved to plow snow. Bill worked with Borger Industries Ltd. for over 20 years, running the asphalt paving. Bill retired at 57 years of age and he and my mother took many bus trips. At home, he puttered in the garage and garden, played cards, and was a good neighbour. My father believed in free enterprise and loved to work. He taught many men the value of the work of human hands and to take pride in it. Bill is survived by son Clifford, grandson Nathan and daughter-in-law Dorota. Heartfelt thanks to Louis and Cricket for their kindness and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Manitoba, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 15 at Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch (near Ness and Mount Royal). NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I worked with Bill at Borger's for a number of years. I especially loved his story of his bus trip vacation through the south western states. - Posted by: Jacky Ryan (Acquaintance) on: Jan 17, 2005

  • Bogy We're going to miss you. Cats and jammerkins, you put up a dickens of a fight. If there's some paving to do where you've gone, production is about to go up a touch. If things aren't going good, somebody's going to catch what for. So long Billy - Posted by: Allan Mills (Family) on: Jan 11, 2005
