AGNES BLOKLAND On Thursday, February 10, 2005 after a brief struggle with cancer Agnes ended her life's journey in Victoria Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Bill in 1999, Agnes will be deeply missed by her children, Nancy (Ramon) and Jim (Kirsten); and her only granddaughter Kara Blokland. Also mourning her loss will be her sister Gladys Baryluk, nieces and nephews, cousins and many, many dear friends. Agnes was born on March 31, 1925 to James and Veda Snyder in Manitou where she was raised on the farm. Agnes attended Normal School and was a teacher in rural southern Manitoba where she made many friendships that have endured until today. She felt a call to the Ministry of the United Church and studied to become a Deaconess in Toronto in 1950. Upon her return to Manitoba she served in the area of Missions, most notably Stella Mission. She then returned to University where she completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree. In June of 1961 Agnes married Bill Blokland and they came to St. Vital where they raised their two children, Nancy and Jim. Agnes was an active member of Regents Park United Church (now St. Mary's Road) from 1963 until the time of her passing and rarely missed a Sunday service or a special event. We will always remember her for her sense of humour, her long-lasting friendships, her organization and her quiet determination. Agnes' spirit will continue to live through those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed. The family would like to offer thanks to the Staff of 5 North at Victoria Hospital and particularly Dr. Young for the compassion and professional care they offered not only to Agnes but her family and friends. A memorial service celebrating her life will take place on February 15 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Road United Church at 613 St. Mary's Rd. A reception in the church will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Winnipeg Harvest, or the Regents Park Foundation, both which were causes dear to her heart. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
